Working moms all over Charlotte have been lying to everyone for years. On top of being rockstars at the office, they are driving children to practice, sending in cupcakes for the class party, and whipping up home-cooked meals. See, these women aren't lying to everyone on purpose... they just make it look easy to everyone on the outside. They don't complain and they do it all with a smile. Being a working mom or a mom who owns a small business (or in many cases, both!) is just as exhausting as it is rewarding.
Don't be fooled by all these women who make you think this working mom thing is a cake walk, because it isn't. It's hard. There are so many tears, sleepless nights, spit up stains on blouses, unfinished meals, late nights and early mornings... it takes a lot to give 100% of yourself to your family and 100% of yourself to your career. And you wanna know something else? There's a tiny voice inside each working mom that tells her "you didn't do this/that well enough today," you don't give enough time to your children," and "you're not putting in enough hours at work."
I've met so many amazing working moms in Charlotte and I am totally blown away by their sheer smarts, incredible talent, dedication to work, and commitment to family. As a way to honor these women, I decided to share their stories through a weekly series called #MomBossMonday. Each week, a new mom will be featured on the blog, interview-style so you can get to know these amazing women, what they do, how they do it so well, and their very own tips, tricks, and words of advice.
I'm so excited to bring this series to my readers and followers - you're going to meet attorneys, bankers, small business owners, photographers, artists, stylists, bloggers, dentists, doctors, and so much more! You guys, I am so inspired by these women, and I hope reading their words of encouragement will help you navigate the world of being a working mom. I can't wait for you to meet our first #MomBoss next Monday, July 9th!
